Kim York

Kim has been in a dance studio since the age of 2 as a student. After becoming an assistant and growing into a teacher, she has spent 18 years teaching all levels and styles of dance.  She was the tap ensemble teacher at a local dance studio for over 10 years, winning numerous awards for both performance and her unique choreography. She has taught beginner through advanced levels of tap, incorporating funk, broadway, Irish, and traditional styles. Her most recent awards were a gold score for her senior tap ensemble routine and high silver for her petite jazz routine at the United States Tournament of Dance in Atlantic City, and high silver for her tappers at the DMA convention in King of Prussia.

Kim enjoys teaching all ages of students, and especially loves all styles of tap. She believes her youngest dancers need to learn to love the art of dance and feel comfortable to express themselves, while progressing and learning each step of the way. She has taken master classes at Koresh, Philadanco, ITDI and DMA conventions, and will have her DMA certification this year. This is her second year at EDGE DANCE CENTER and she continues to be proud of her past and present students each day.

Kim has also taught pre-school, kindergarten, and art classes, and is a NJ certified teacher, teaching for the Cinnaminson Public Schools for 13 years in grades 1 - 3. She also brought creative dance lessons to local daycares and choreographed multiple elementary school music shows. She strongly believes each student has a different learning style and strives to reach each student. She has also been an active member of the New Jersey Association for the Gifted and Talented Association. She is thrilled to be a part of the EDGE team!
